POSITION TITLE: Medical Director, SCVMC Jail Programs
POSITION CATEGORY: Exempt
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: Psychiatrists
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Medical Director

SUMMARY: Provide leadership and administrative oversight in the development and implementation of policies and practices, supervision and clinical direction to all psychiatrists and other mental health professional services at the Correctional Facilities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Provide leadership and administrative oversight in the development and implementation of policies and practices, supervision and clinical direction to all psychiatrists and other mental health professional services at the Correctional Facilities.
    1. Participate in program development and organizational planning to ensure responsive care.
    2. Formulate, approve changes in, and direct overall medical standards of care and policies.
  2. Advise and consult with Custody Management Team on medical and clinical aspects of the Correctional Facilities programs and operation.
    1. Make recommendations to Custody Management Team on clinical operations, psychosocial methodologies, medication management, and talent acquisition and management to improve performance outcomes.
  3. Provide administrative supervision, both directly and indirectly, of psychiatric and professional staff, as well as in the overall management of service delivery issues.
    1. Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate psychiatrists to meet service delivery requirements.
    2. Act as a formal liaison between administration and psychiatrists.
    3. Coordinate and provide clinical training to psychiatric provider staff.
  4. Provide diagnostic evaluation of individuals referred for treatment; assess the need for medications; prescribe and monitor medications, as appropriate.
  5. Act as administrative medical professional point of contact and spokesperson for Traditions Behavioral Health.
    1. Represent Traditions Behavioral Health in a variety of community forums, specifically including the County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Department.
    2. Nurture relationships of Traditions Behavioral Health with affiliated institutions, Santa Clara County, community resources, and professional institutional accrediting and review bodies.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Attend and participate in staff, program, and county meetings and training, as required.
  2. Meet continuing education requirements to satisfy regulatory and accreditation requirements and ensure continued professional growth and knowledge of current trends in behavioral health.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. D. degree, completion of residency program in Psychiatry
  2. Current license to practice medicine in California with no disciplinary actions; Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry, as well as a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate.
  3. Computer literacy; MS Office applications (Word; Excel; Outlook), and Windows.
  4. Demonstrated ability to:
    1. Train, coach, mentor, and motivate all levels of staff;
    2. Balance competing demands and satisfy the conflicting needs of a multi-stakeholder-based constituency with tact and diplomacy;
    3. Offer ideas and solutions that are safe, evidence-based, creative, and cost effective;

SALARY

SALARY WILL BE $330,000 PER ANNUM PLUS UP TO $10,000 IN BONUSES AND A FULL BENEFIT PACKAGE VALUED AT $100,000 FOR 40 HOURS PER WEEK (24 ADMINISTRATIVE AD 16 CLINICAL).

Contra Costa County Detention Services
 
Psychiatrist works at both Martinez detention facility in Martinez, California and West County Detention Facility in Richmond, CA. Full-time position. There are exciting developments, including multi-disciplinary collaboration to provide urgent and ongoing mental health services for inmates.   This position will be available October 1, 2018. Caseload 12 to 15 patients daily. 8 AM until 6 PM four days per week.

Humboldt County Mental Health

Humboldt County Outpatient Mental Health: Telehealth and In-Person Combined Position 
 
TBH seeks one full-time (40 hours/week) psychiatrist to work a novel position that is a mix of in-person work (4 days/month) and telepsychiatry (~12 days per month) working 4 x 10-hour shifts per week.  TBH will provide for all travel and lodging expenses for the in-person week in Eureka, California.  This position consists of standard outpatient psychiatry services to patients qualifying for County-level mental health services.  The psychiatrist will be part of a dynamic team including social workers, therapists, case managers, and nurses and have access to Crisis Stabilization and Inpatient services on-site.

OVERNIGHT PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY SERVICES (PES) PHYSICIAN

Very lucrative ( 315 K with 9K in bonuses), fully benefitS, fast-paced, and exciting new position at John George Hospital Psychiatric Emergency services working ONLY 3 NIGHTS a week ( 36 hours/wk). We are looking for a candidate with good clinical acumen and excellent communications skills.
The physician will be a part of a multidisciplinary team (including access to a medical consultant on the phone at all times) with the following responsibilities:
  1. Provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment in the Psychiatric emergency milieu
  2. Provide medical brief medical screening and initial treatment for patients arriving in the
    PES/Triage via ambulance and walk-in.
  3. Communicate with ER Physicians regarding accepting patients to Psych ER.
  4. Provide overnight backup coverage for medical and psychiatric emergencies in the attached
    psychiatric inpatient units.
  5. Ability to chart effectively in EMR according to Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards.
